Fodor.com recently place the Florida Keys on its “no travel” list for 2020. The popular travel guide sited damage to the coral reefs here as its primary reason for warning tourists to stay away.
But let’s be honest. While our saltwater fishing is unparalleled, there are better beaches elsewhere in the Caribbean to visit. We aren’t known for our beaches, Fodor. We are known for our F-U-N: bar hopping, live music, creative cocktails, peculiar people watching, fabulous food, and bright Green Flash Sunsets. None of these pastimes will damage our coral reefs.

The upside to the Fodor’s recommendation? It’s nice and quiet here in the Florida Keys this year. Gone are the lengthy restaurant waits for seating, packed happy hour bars, crowded beaches, and bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Plus, Fodor’s could not have predicted the fabulous weather we are having here this year. The temperatures have stayed in the mid-70’s with plenty of sunshine and only the occasional shower.
As a resident of the Florida Keys, I am going to give you my favorite hidden beaches, fabulous restaurants, happy hour hangouts, sunset spots, adventure-awaits excursions, rainy day activities, and more.
